Beach Shoot #8 - Micro-Stinger

Date: 2003-11-03

Description

Another 8 mm ID micro stinger.

I actually made a major mistake here, this device was actually intended to be the hummer, and vice versa! I would not normally use RP in a hummer, or "Golden Rain #2" in a stinger. Golden rain #2 is an iron effects star/gerb composition:

10 Potassium Nitrate

7 Iron (fine)

2 Sulfur

2 Lampblack

I didn't actually realise I had drilled out the wrong 'hummer' to make a micro-stinger until I lit this device. Bugger!

Comments

Sat and made a few sparks.

The golden rain #2 composition had major issues. I purchased the iron powder with the belief that it was sterine coated. Well, it wasn't, so the minute I tried to granulate or make cut stars with it it started to self-react, generating much heat and ruining the batch.

The dry GR2 meal was fast enough to use as a driver (having used C6 in a hummer before I thought it was worth a try), but clearly its dry shelf-life is limited unless the iron is protected.

The composition must have self-reacted during storage (due to bad weather), and rendered itself useless. I'll have to coat the iron in future. The video isn't worth the download.
