My first try of the so called granite, or zinc dust star.
Composition:
80 Zinc Dust
28 Potassium Nitrate
14 Charcoal (airfloat)
5 Sulfur
2 Dextrin
Moistened with water and pumped with my infamous syringe star pump. Resulting star 8.5 mm OD, 12 mm long. Cracked slightly on drying as cortex shrunk at a different rate to the core.
Very nice blue-green colour.
Charcoal sparks were drown out by the metal fire, but would show up when the star is actually moving through the air. A small quantity of very hot ash was left behind, probably zinc particles that couldn't escape.
Could use some meal priming.
I also test fired two of these stars from my stargun. They worked quite well, but I still believe a little priming couldn't hurt. I have videos of the stargun shots, but they aren't very good so I'll spare you the download.
