Beach Shoot #1 - Yawn Style Micro-Rocket #2

Date: 2003-08-10

Description

Very similar in construction to device #1, however the propellant was James Yawn's recrystalised candy composition (Sucrose and some Dextrose).

Device mass was 3.61 g before launch.

Comments

Fuse failed.

The device did not ignite at launch site. Once back in the lab, the rocket was unrolled and the grain inspected. It was mushy, obviously tainted with water absorbed from the atmosphere.

Using the remaining inch or so of fuse the grain was test-burnt to assess the effect of the moisture. The grain ignited easily, but burnt slowly with a large quantity of smoke.
