Dusty meal priming seems to work just fine.
Like most Nitrate/Zinc streamer stars 3/8" (near 10 mm) is a good size. Meal priming is generally required for pumped stars. They tend to roll poorly, but cut are quite forgiving as long as they are dried slowly to avoid cracking from uneven shrinkage.
